Starting out making a scoubidou pen cover What you need to make a scoubidou pen cover

You need some scoubidous (at least two), a pen, a drawing pin - preferably one you can hold and push with. And some scissors.

Depending on how long your pen is you may need additional scoubidou.
Ideally you need a pen with a soft bit in the end.

(Glue optional)

First knot on scoubidou pen cover Your first knot is a simple knot.

Bring the right hand side of the scoubi round across the front of the pen.

Take the left hand side of the scoubidou and pass it over the top of the right hand scoubi, pass it behind the pen and then up through the loop on the other side.

This is the basis of making these pen covers - its a simple knot. Always the right hand side coming on top of the pen.

Second scoubidou starting on pen cover Add in the second scoubdio string.

slip it through the first simple knot (pulling that one tight to keep it in place) and then do a simple knot with this new string.

Work the knots towards the end of the pen.

scoubdio on pen Your scoubidou pen cover should now have two loops round it. Check the back is tidy and if neccessary redor it. Once you've got the hang of a knot then it is always easier to do - so perhaps practice starting this pen off until you're happy with the result.

Until the pen is covered. Your cover should develope a lovely twist. If it is not level or even redo it.

cut ends of scoubidou When you get close the the end cut off the excess lengths - leave enough end to stick through the holes - see next step

Finishing pen cover Finishing your scoubidou pen cover means tidying away the ends. You need your rawing pin to make 4 holes in the end and enlarge these slightly with the scissors until you can just squeeze the ends in.
